  • Should my Heating and Air Conditioning unit have routine professional maintenance?
Yes! Neglecting routine maintenance can lead to a decline in air conditioning and heating performance and increase your monthly energy costs. Keeping your system properly maintained will reduce energy charges and help you avoid high repair costs. It may even prolong the life of your equipment.

  • How often should this maintenance be performed?
Annual checkups are recommended at the minimum. In addition, consider scheduling maintenance checks prior to turning on your air conditioning unit for the first time in the summer or your heating unit at the beginning of winter.

  • What are my energy saving options?
The U.S. Department of Energy recommends the following steps to increase the efficiency of your heating or cooling system.
    • Change your air filter regularly.
    • Tune up your HVAC equipment yearly.
    • Install a programmable thermostat.
    • Seal your heating and cooling ducts.
    • Consider installing ENERGY STAR ("High Efficiency") qualified heating and cooling equipment.
Please contact me to schedule a service call to decide which options are best for your home.

  • Which Steps can I perform to increase efficiency?
It is a good idea to regularly clean or replace your Air Conditioner filter. Dirty filters will clog airflow and reduce efficiency of your unit. Filters should be cleaned or replaced every 1-2 months.

  • How do I dispose of old refrigeration equipment?
Refrigeration equipment contains refrigerant gas, also known as "freon", which is harmful to the environment if released into the atmosphere. When removing refrigerators or freezers, Glitsch Refrigeration uses special equipment to "reclaim" the old refrigerant thus enabling safe disposal.
